combining form on Greek models of Latin vitrum glass, used in a few terms, as vitro-ˈdentine n. the hard external layer of dentine in a tooth. ˈvitrophyre n. a subdivision of porphyritic rocks. vitrophyric adj. ˈvitrotype n. (see quot. 1875).
