Etymology: Partly (in sense 1) < Pali buddhadhamma (nominative singular buddhadhammo ) < buddha Buddha n. + dhamma inherent characteristic (see dhamma n.), and partly (in sense 2) < Buddha n. + dhamma n.
1. Buddhism. Esp. in Theravada Buddhism: each of the eighteen personal qualities considered to distinguish a Buddha. Cf. Buddha dharma n. 1.In Mahayana Buddhism the related term Buddha dharma n. is typically used.
