单词 wandelard
释义

wandelardn.

Etymology: < Anglo-Norman wandelard (13th cent. in Chardry Petit Plet 979 and 14th cent. in Bozon Contes lxiii); latinized (‘vir valde wandelardus’) in Wright's Pol. Songs (Camden Soc.) p. 49. In these three instances the word would seem to mean ‘extortioner’, but this sense may be merely contextual. Doubtless of Germanic origin; possibly from the German personal name Wandalhart; compare, however, Middle High German wandel, crime.
Obsolete. rare.
? A criminal, traitor.
