Etymology: < water-souchy n. In β. forms probably at least partly reflecting reinterpretation of the final vowel of water-souchy n. as showing the French past participle ending (see -y suffix5 2), although compare also the rare early β. forms at water-souchy n.
Obsolete.
transitive. To boil (fish, esp. perch) and serve in the water used for cooking. Only in passive. Cf. water-souchy n.
