Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Wirrwarr.
Etymology: < German Wirrwarr, masculine (15th cent.; compare Middle High German wirrewarren , neuter), a reduplication (with vowel variation) of the stem of wirren , verwirren to confuse (see war n.1).
A state of confusion or disorder; (also) a confused mass, a jumble.
