Designating either of two non-parametric statistical tests for ranked values devised by Wilcoxon; (a) a test for comparing related populations or repeated observations on a single population (more fully Wilcoxon signed-rank test); (b) a test for comparing independent observations on two populations (more fully Wilcoxon rank-sum test) (cf. Mann–Whitney n.).
