Etymology: variant of wrathful adj., after wroth n.1or wroth adj.Previous versions of the OED give the stress as: ˈwrothful.
Obsolete or archaic.
An apparently early example in R. Brunne Chron. (1810) 37 is probably an error for wrathful or wrethful.
