Etymology: < classical Latin admiss-, past participial stem of admittere admit v. + -able suffix, probably after French admissible admissible adj. Compare earlier admittable adj. and later admissible adj.
= admissible adj.Admissible is by far the more common form in later use (after the 18th cent.).
