yellow-rumped warbler n. a common New World migratory warbler, Setophaga coronata, which is typically grey-brown with darker streaks, a bright yellow patch on the rump, and (in males) bright yellow patches on the crown and flanks.Also called yellow-rump, yellow-rump warbler.The yellow-rumped warbler has several subspecies, including Audubon's warbler ( S. coronata auduboni) and myrtle warbler ( S. coronata coronata), which were previously identified as separate species.
