Etymology: < zoo- comb. form + -nomy comb. form. In sense 1 after German Zoonomie (1795) and its model post-classical Latin zoonomia ( E. Darwin Zoonomia, or the Laws of Organic Life (1794)).Compare French zoonomie (1800 or earlier).
