transitive. To fasten or secure (something) with a cable tie or cable ties. Sometimes spec.: to bind (a person's wrists or ankles) with a cable tie or cable ties. Cf. zip-tie v.In quot. 1988: to place a cable tie on the leg of (a bird) to enable it to be identified subsequently; cf. ring v.2 1c.
