单词 | callainite |
释义 | callainiten. Mineralogy. Now rare or disused. A green mineral discovered at an archaeological site in Brittany, France, identified with Pliny's callais (turquoise) but later shown to be a mixture of turquoise and wavellite. ΚΠ 1868 J. D. Dana Syst. Mineral. (ed. 5) 572 Yet, as this identity is not established, the name callainite is better than Pliny's name unmodified. 1883 Proc. Royal Irish Acad.: Sci. 3 552 Variscite..is clearly identical with the callainite of Damour, a mineral the provenance of which is unknown. 1942 Amer. Jrnl. Sci. 240 654 Callainite, from Montebras, France, produces a pattern that can be satisfactorily accounted for only by assuming a mixture of wavellite and turquoise.
