Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: Greek καλλι- , κάλλος , σθένος , -ical suffix.
Etymology: < ancient Greek καλλι-, combining form of κάλλος beauty (see callisthenic adj.) + σθένος strength (see asthenia n.) + -ical suffix. Compare callisthenic adj., callisthenics n.With the form calisthenical compare cali- comb. form and see discussion at that entry.
Of a person: skilled or talented in callisthenics; beautiful or graceful in respect of physical movement. Also: of or relating to callisthenics; = callisthenic adj.
