Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: Greek κάλλος , -graphy comb. form.
Etymology: < ancient Greek κάλλος beauty (see callisthenic adj.) + -graphy comb. form. Compare callotechnics n. and earlier calography n.
Obsolete.
In the terminology of the U.S. academic Roswell Park (1807–69): works of literature such as poetry, drama, fiction, essays, oration, etc., considered collectively; the branch of human knowledge concerned with this. Cf. callotechnics n.Apparently an isolated use.
