With infinitive or absol. (rarely reflexive): To fix it in one's mind; to determine, intend, purpose; to set oneself to do something.

To set (a person) to (upon) some action. Also reflexive. To set oneself with resolution. Obsolete.

To take it into one's head, propose to oneself, resolve. (French s'aviser.)

transitive (reflexive). With infinitive as complement. To intend, propose, plan to do what is specified by the complement. Obsolete.
