Origin: Probably a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymon: dream v.2
Etymology: Probably originally a variant (see a- prefix2) of a prefixed form of the past participle of dream v.2; compare the (rare) Middle English past participle form ydremed , and compare also the (rare) late Middle English construction to be dreamed ‘to have a dream’ (see Middle Eng. Dict. at drēmen v.(2) 1(d)), and also the constructions at dream v.2 1.
Obsolete.
In to be adreamed: to be visited by a dream (of or about something, that something has happened).Common from the late 16th to the mid 18th cent.; regional in later use.
