cameraladj.

Brit. /ˈkam(ə)rəl/, /ˈkam(ə)rl̩/, U.S. /ˈkæm(ə)rəl/
Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin cameralis.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin cameralis concerning the chamberlain (10th cent. in a German source), (of a coinage) in use for payments to the chamber (13th cent.), of or relating to a judicial or fiscal chamber, especially the state treasury (1654 or earlier in German sources), also in sense ‘of or relating to the bedroom’ (11th cent.; from 13th cent. in British sources) < classical Latin camera in its post-classical Latin sense of ‘chamber, bureau’ + -ālis -al suffix1. With the specific sense compare German kameral , †cameral (1654 or earlier; chiefly in compounds, e.g. Kameralbediente (plural) officials of a judicial or fiscal chamber, Kameralsachen (plural) matters relating to a judicial or fiscal chamber, Kameralwissenschaft (see below)). Compare French caméral relating to the office of chamberlain (1803), relating to public finance (1886 in sciences camérales : see below). Compare later unicameral adj., bicameral adj., etc.In Cameral President (see quot. 1830) after German Kammerpräsident (1572 (as †camer president ) or earlier). In cameral sciences (see quot. 1894) after German Kameralwissenschaften (plural noun) academic study of finance and fiscal matters (1727 in singular †Cameralwissenschaft; now historical); compare French sciences camérales, plural noun (1886; after German)).
Now chiefly historical.
