Eisenhower, Dwight DavidEi‧sen‧hower, Dwight Da‧vid /ˈaɪzənhaʊə, dwaɪt ˈdeɪvɪd $ -haʊər/ (1890–1969) a US politician in the Republican Party, who was president of the US from 1953 to 1961. Eisenhower was a general in the US army during World War II, and he became the commander of all the Allied forces in Europe, leading the attack on d-day in 1944. He was a popular president, and people informally called him Ike. |
