Iraq InquiryIˈraq Inˌquiry noun an official investigation into Britain’s activities in the Iraq War. Sir John Chilcot, an important diplomat and civil servant, was chosen to be the chairman. The Iraq Inquiry is also known as the Chilcot Inquiry. It began in November 2009 and its aim was to discover what really happened during the war and to make sure that the UK government could deal effectively with a similar situation in the future. The inquiry examined evidence from several important politicians and army officers including the former Prime Minister Tony Blair. |
