pentaquark in British English (ˈpɛntəˌkwɑːk) noun physics a subatomic particle consisting of four quarks and one antiquark Examples of 'pentaquark' in a sentencepentaquark The considered pentaquark masses are estimated with a simple method. We cautiously review the treatment of pentaquark exotic baryons in chiral soliton models.Based on the diquark–triquark model, we predict more pentaquark states, which will hopefully be measured in future experiments. In the vicinity of the heavy pentaquark masses, the total cross section reaches about 1 nb.We resume our results on the heavy quarkonium hybrids [19], and on the recently observed pentaquark states [16–18].In particular, the most suitable fit to known pentaquark states predicts states below the charmonium-plus-nucleon threshold.Pentaquark baryons are a natural expectation of an extended picture of hadrons where quarks and diquarks are the fundamental units. These pentaquark states could be searched for in the experiments having discovered or confirmed the hidden-charm meson and baryon resonances. Moreover, we predicted in a parameter-free way the pentaquark state mass spectra for all the octet-pentaquark states. |
