孔子 (Kǒngzǐ), Confucius, (trad. 551-479 BC) was a hugely influential thinker. A posthumous compilationof his sayings, 《论语》 (Lúnyǔ), The Analects, is China's most important philosophical work, and was the key texton which much of the traditional Chinese education system was based.
