单词 | hydroplaning |
释义 | hydroplaning in Automotive Engineering (haɪdroʊpleɪnɪŋ) or aquaplaning noun (Automotive engineering: Design and performance) Hydroplaning is a situation in which a vehicle tire rides up on a thin surface of water, losing contact with the pavement, and resulting in sudden loss of control. Some experts believe that hydroplaning accounts for the majority of single-car accidents in wet weather. Hydroplaning can happen when a cushion of water is built up in front of fast-moving tires. This water-absorbing asphalt greatly reduces both the amount of spray generated bytraffic and the risk of hydroplaning by high-speed vehicles. |
