In two-stroke cycle engines using crankcase compression, lubricating oil must be added to the inlet air. The two-stroke cycle uses crankcase compression to pump the fresh charge into the cylinder. In almost all two-stroke cycle engines, crankcase compression is used to force air into and scavenge the cylinders. |
