From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary EnglishKercher, MeredithMeredith KercherKer‧cher, Mer‧e‧dith /ˈkɜːtʃə, ˈmerədɪθ $ ˈkɜːrtʃər-/ (1985-2007) a British student who was murdered in her home in Perugia, Italy in November 2007. Three people were charged with the murder: Rudy Hermann Guede (a man who lived in Perugia), Amanda Knox (a US student who shared a house with Kercher), and Knox’s former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito. Knox and Sollecito appealed against being sent to prison and a new trial began in December 2010.
