a white water kayaking move which involves pulling the bow of the boat up when going over a drop or through a stopper to keep the boat more horizontal and retain forward momentum. It is an onomatopoeic word, ‘boof’ being the sound a kayak makes when it lands flat on the water. You have to boof that drop to keep your speed for the rest of the rapid.
