The problem is caused by changes in water temperature or other environmental factors which lead the corals to expel the algae that live in them and give them their colour.Evidence that Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is experiencing its worst coral bleaching on record has renewed calls for the UN to list it as “in-danger”.
