Growth Investing

Growth Investing

An investment strategy in which one purchases securities deemed likely to rise in price, especially in the short or medium term. In growth investing, one prioritizes the theoretical future price of a company's shares over its current price or actual value. One may use a variety of technical or fundamental means to find growth securities. Growth investing can result in large gains in a relatively short period of time; however, it can fuel speculative bubbles. After the burst of the dot-com bubble, the growth at a reasonable price strategy became more popular than straight growth investing.
