Hoank Kong Chat

Hoank Kong Chat

Dates of birth and death unknown. Leader of a large peasant uprising in Vietnam that lasted from 1739 to 1769.

The uprising led by Hoank Kong Chat differed from other peasant rebellions in Vietnam in that its participants included not only peasants but also members of the Thai tribes that inhabited the hills of the northwestern part of the country. In 1769, after Hoank Kong Chat’s death, his detachments were routed by the troops of the feudal house of Chin.
