Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome

[wis´kot awl´drich] a congenital platelet storage pool disease, transmitted as an X-linked recessive trait, characterized by the triad of eczema, thrombocytopenia, and recurrent purulent infection. There is an inability to produce antibodies to polysaccharide antigens and increased susceptibility to infection with encapsulated bacteria such as Haemophilus influenzae,meningococcus, or pneumococcus. Called also Aldrich syndrome.
