High Mountain Relief

High Mountain Relief

a relief type of primarily young mountain lands (the Alps, Caucasus, Pamir, Himalayas, and others), characterized by steep slopes, deep and sharp divides, and numerous sharp and bare rocky summits. High mountain relief is created first of all by broad development of glacial forms and intensively flowing physical weathering. The absolute height of the belt of high mountain relief varies depending upon the absolute height of the mountains, the geographic latitude of the territory, and the position of the old and new snow boundaries, but it is usually above 2,000-2,500 m.
