Hungarian Autonomous Region
(Regiunea Autonomă Maghiară), a former administrative unit of Rumania. Formed in 1952. (From 1960 to 1968 it was called the Mureş-Hungarian Autonomous Region.) In accordance with the territorial-administration changes of 1968, the territory of the Hungarian Autonomous Region was mostly absorbed by the districts of Mureş, Harghita, and Covasna.
