ADAM1cda23

ADAM1cda23

An ADAMs family protein encoded by ADAM23 on chromosome 2q33, which is highly expressed in the brain. It is essential for normal brain activity, possibly by serving as a ligand for binding proteins, and may play a role in cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Knock-out mice lacking expression of ADAM23 have ataxia, tremor and short life spans.
