hypercarotenemia

 [hi″per-kar″ah-tĕ-ne´me-ah] an elevated level of carotene in the blood, resulting from excessive ingestion of carotenoids or from decreased ability to convert carotenoids to vitamin A; it is often characterized by yellowing of the skin (see carotenosis). Called also carotenemia.

(hīpĕr-kārŏ-tĕ-nēmē-ă) Disorder marked by orange skin discoloration caused by excess carotenoids in the blood, usually from overconsumption of vegetables that contain Vitamin A (e.g., carrots).
