Agryz

 

a city and administrative center of Agryz Raion, Tatar ASSR, located in the extreme northeast of the republic on the Agryz River (Volga Basin). Agryz is a large transportation junction, with railroad lines going to Kazan, Sverdlovsk, and Izhevsk. The population was 22,000 in 1968. The city has a railroad enterprise and a brick factory. Agryz became a city in 1938.
