释义 | Hunsaker, JeromeHunsaker, Jerome (Clarke)(1886–1984) aeronautical engineer; born in Creston, Iowa. He was designer of the flying boat NC-4—which made the first transatlantic flight (1919)—and the dirigible Shenandoah. He also founded the first college course in aeronautical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1914); while teaching there (1912–52) he developed the first modern wind tunnel in America. In charge of American naval aircraft design during World War I, he served for many years as an industry consultant. |
