Iarilo

(also Iarila), in the mythology of the East Slavs, the god of the sun, spring, fertility, and love. A survival of paganism, spring festivals in honor of Iarilo were held in some areas of Russia as late as the early 20th century. The festivals were accompanied by dances, including khorovody (round dances).
