Iaroslav Vsevolodovich

 

Born Feb. 8, 1191; died Sept. 30, 1246. Grand prince of Vladimir from 1238. Third son of Vsevolod Bol’shoe Gnezdo.

Prince of PereiaslavF Iuzhnyi from 1200 to 1206, Iaroslav was willed Pereiaslavl’-Zalesskii by his father. In the 1220’s and 1230’s he ruled several times as prince of the Novgorod feudal republic. After Iurii Vsevolodovich was killed by the Mongol-Tatars, Iaroslav became grand prince of Vladimir. Iaroslav was poisoned in Karakorum, where he had been summoned by the great khan, Güyük.
