(il-ī'ă-kŭs mŭs'ĕl) Origin, iliac fossa; insertion, tendon of psoas, anterior surface of lesser trochanter, and capsule of hip joint; action, flexes thigh and rotates it medially; nerve supply, lumbar plexus.
Synonym(s): musculus iliacus [TA] , iliac muscle.

Thigh muscle. Origin: iliac fossa. Insertion: lesser trochanter of femur, psoas major tendon. Nerve: femoral (L2-L3). Action: flexes thigh. See also: muscle
