Hoi An

 

a city in central Vietnam, in Quang Nam-Da Nang Province. Population, approximately 100,000 (1976). Hoi An is a port on the South China Sea and is situated southeast of Da Nang. It is connected by a branch line with the Trans-Vietnam Railroad. The city is a center for commercial fishing, the extraction of salt, and the processing of marine products.
