high-speed yoyo

A combat maneuver where the pilots trade height for speed, and vice versa. When an attacker realizes that he is unable to stay inside of the defender's turn, he relaxes his angle of bank slightly and then pulls up. As he comes over the top, he inverts the aircraft and looks down at his opponent through the top of his canopy. In this process, his speed falls and his radius of turn is reduced. He pulls his nose down and does an aileron turn and positions himself behind the defender. If both aircraft resort to the yoyo maneuver, the one going higher and descending at the precise moment will win the battle.
