Location:Off I-45, 6 miles south of Huntsville, take Exit 109 to Park Road 40.
Facilities:Campsites with water and electricity hookups, tent camping, showers, restrooms, day-use group facility, picnic areas, screened shelters, hiking trails, nature trail, bike trails, boat ramp, docks, boat rentals, fishing pier, fish cleaning stations, interpretive center, park store, playground.
Activities:Camping, boating (5 mph speed limit), canoeing, fishing, swimming, hiking, bicycling, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting (with restrictions).
Special Features:Park adjoins Sam Houston National Forest (see entry in national forests section) and consists of woodlands dominated by loblolly and shortleaf pines typical of east Texas. Park includes Lake Raven, a 210-acre impoundment fed by three major creeks, which offers fishing for crappie, perch, catfish, and bass.
