Hsiangt’an

 

a city in Central China, in Hunan Province. Population, more than 300,000 (1971). Hsiangt’an, a port on the Hsiang Chiang River, is a railroad and highway junction. It has enterprises for the production of machinery (notably electrical equipment and electric locomotives), textiles (mainly cotton), foodstuffs, fireproof materials, and construction materials.
