Granatkin, Valentin Aleksandrovich

 

Born July 3(16), 1908, in the village of Ryblovo, present-day Rybolovo, in Ramenskii Raion, Moscow Oblast. Soviet athlete, public figure, Honored Master of Sports (1942), Honored Cultural Worker of the RSFSR (1968), engineer.

Granatkin became a member of the CPSU in 1939. He graduated from the Higher Party School of the Central Committee of the CPSU. He is vice-president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA, from 1946) and chairman of the USSR Football Federation (1950–64 and from 1968). He has been awarded two orders, as well as medals.
