Health Action Zones

A UK government-funded initiative announced in 1999 consisting of 15 physical localities in both rural and inner-city areas of the UK, where poverty was linked to ill health. The plan brought together organisations within and beyond the NHS to develop and implement a locally agreed strategy for improving health and reducing inequalities in health of a local population.
