[′in‚deks ‚chärt] (mechanical engineering) A chart used in conjunction with an indexing or dividing head, which correlates the index plate, hole circle, and index crank motion with the desired angular subdivisions. A chart indicating the arrangement of levers in a machine to obtain desired output speed or fuel rate. (navigation) In marine operations, an outline chart showing the limits and identifying designations of navigational charts, volumes of sailing directions, and so on.
