Agulhas the southernmost cape of Africa (34°52’ S lat., 19“59’ E long.). Cape Agulhas is located in the territory of the Republic of South Africa, 155 km southeast of the Cape of Good Hope. It was given its name because a magnetic anomaly in the sea nearby affected the needle (Portuguese, agulha) of compasses. |
