Horse Trials
Horse Trials
tests of pedigreed horses in speed, strength, and endurance to demonstrate their maximum work capacity. Horse trials have long been known (in Russia, since the late 18th century) as a method of selecting the best horses for breeding and improving breeds. Horse trials are held in hippodromes and at stud farms. There are various types of trials: saddle breeds com-pete in races; trotters, in harness races; and draft horses, in load-pulling contests.
