grand rounds

Academics The formal presentation of a specific aspect of clinical medicine, with discussion of pathogenesis, symptomatology, therapy, usually of a specific disease. See Rounds. Cf Clinicopathologic conference.

grand rounds

(grand rowndz) A regularly scheduled didactic presentation at a teaching hospital in which one or more actual cases are used to illustrate a selected medical topic to health care professionals, particularly those in training.

grand rounds

Rounds conducted as part of medical education, used esp. in teaching hospitals, in which all aspects of a patient's condition, management, and problems encountered are presented to faculty members, medical students, and health care workers. This provides an opportunity for all concerned to ask questions and provide comments on the patient's diagnosis, care, and clinical program.
