ADAMTSaj9 ADAMTSaj9 An ADAMTSs family enzyme encoded by ADAMTS9 on chromosome 3p14.1, which was first isolated from human brain. It is expressed in ovary, pancreas, heart, lung, placenta, and kidney, and strongly so in fetal tissues. It is downregulated or absent in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), especially in aggressive cases and/or with nodal metastases. Upregulation of ADAMTS9 reduces colony-forming ability of NPC in vitro, supporting the belief that ADAMTS9 is a tumour suppressor gene. |
