Established: Authorized on August 25, 1972.
Location:At the north end of the town of Deer Lodge, Montana, off I-90. Deer Lodge is 40 miles north of Butte and 80 miles southeast of Missoula.
Facilities:Rest rooms (é), visitor center (é), museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail. Entrance fee required.
Activities:Guided tour.
Special Features:Once the headquarters of a 10-million-acre, 19th-century cattle empire,the site preserves more than 80 structures and many historic artifactsassociated with its operation, representing more than 125 years ofranching heritage. It is still a working cattle ranch.
